“My aunt recently stayed at St. Paul's house for the recovery of a dislocated shoulder, and a broken arm. One on each arm. She could not safely take care of herself with these injuries. The staff at St. Paul's house took such great care of her. The therapists were top notch, and made sure my aunt was building strength each day. The nurses made sure my aunt's medicines were handled in a timely manner, and checked in on her regularly. The CNA's were a godsend! They helped my aunt with all her daily routines, and made her feel comfortable. Their sense of humor, and great disposition made the recovery process that much easier. In addition the food was very good, and the kitchen staff made sure my aunt had light cups, etc. to make her meals manageable. They also always helped her with the little things that can leave a person with limited use of their arms helpless, like opening up a coffee creamer. In addition the room was kept spotless. “In my opinion, St. Pauls House is one of Chicago's best kept secrets. Knowing that, while you have to be at work or fulfill other commitments, your loved ones are in a clean, safe, and caring environment greatly reduces your own stress. Both my mentor and my Uncle resided at St Pauls House. My 86 year old mentor lived there for four years before she died at 90 years of age. Despite the fact that she could be very difficult at times, she was the recipient of wonderful care administered by a compassionate and loving staff. My 90 year old Uncle was a delightful man. Based on my prior experience we took him to St. Pauls House when he needed rehab after surgery. After completing the rehab, he decided to live in the Assisted Living area of St. Pauls House. He was able to enjoy the companionship of men and women his age and to attend religious services every weekend as well as participate in the various exercise sessions and social activities available to him. He was very comforted, as were w”
“My first experience with St. Pauls was rehab after hip replacement surgery. The rehab therapists were outstanding and personable, caring people. After my experience, I referred my mother, who eventually lived the last 5 years of her life in the nursing sector. The single most important element of St. Pauls is the sense of mission/philososphy that promotes total care. Always tuned into the needs of the whole person, the entire staff works diligently to achieve these goals and to rectify aberrations. Of course, lapses occur, mistakes are made, but those are addressed ASAP. Loving care permeates the place and that is gold! ”
